Pastor Carter's Thoughts
Good to the Last Drop.
During the Bible conference a couple of weeks ago I listened to a young man deliver his heart out to a group of awesome people concerning the alarming and rising rate of young people commenting suicide at an age when they should be developing a strong infrastructure of life’s everlasting values. I would use the term, “Taking one’s own life,” but most don’t understand that it’s not their own life, the life belong to the Lord no matter what the age group.
Since becoming a pastor I’ve spent a considerable amount of time pondering why these young people, some I personally have known, commenting such an eternal act when there is so much ahead of them. An exciting life. A future of accomplishments the challenge of doing the almost impossible souring upon wings of eagles and doing the great things that God has created all of us to do. Building a family, producing and creating kids with an attitude of never ending hope, establishing an unmovable, unshakable and everlasting Faith in an everlasting God. How could this come about?
The causes of the youth suicide rate is more understandable than the older generation. The latest generations have had God stolen from their up-bringing, life values killed without remorse, families destroyed and replaced by government agencies. We would thing it couldn’t get any worse but it does.
I thought about a very valuable group of people that the leaders of our great district appointed me the serve. They are called Senior Adults. Although suicide is one of the top four causes of death among people in the age groups between 10 and 44, the numbers of suicide deaths are higher in the age groups in the 45 to 65+ range. To me this is even more alarming. What is happening to the wisdom, life values and the very foundation of life itself if grandparents are taking their life at a higher rate than the young? God help us!
A few of the things that may cause a senior fellow to give up is, the loss of their health, a loss of finances, a loss of family members and no anywhere near the lest is the loss of purpose. I sincerely believe that God has given to me a small crumb of insight into some answers that could possibly help. If God would grant me the opportunity to express and input the value of some very simple things. Due to a lack of space I will only list four but I will pursue the subject.
1. Diet, not so much as how much a person eats, but what they eat. (very hard to change)
2. Exercise. Exercise daily, may it a part of your life style. Youth and Seniors.
3. Laughter. Laughter is a power antidote for depression and anxiety.
4. Talk to yourself. “David encouraged himself” he had to be talking out-loud to himself.
Love all of ya’ll, I really do.
Marching across the desert of time and into the eternal ecstasy of rapturous delight and ever-lasting joy. The true Church of Christ comes out of the dark and into the light hidden by the confines of the Nation Israel. Conceived in the fleshly womb of a chosen young Jewish woman, birthed into the world with all humility, laid in a manger. Shined upon by the stars of heaven, sought after by wise men as a Savior. Threaten by those that feared Him. Followed by those that loved him. Crucified by those that hated Him. Buried by those that believed Him.
Until this day, the men that He had chosen to be the generals of the soon coming most powerful army the world had ever encountered was just a frighten band of men without direction or a leader. It now appears that when Jesus spoke, “Upon this Rock I will build My Church” drifted into the past and the plan would be forgotten and was defeated. But the thought of defeat had never entered His mind and certainly wasn’t in His vocabulary.
Defeat was not in the vocabulary of General Gorge Washington as he led the shabby remains of America’s first army at Valley Forge during the hardest winter of the Revolutionary War, to a victory that was never thought possible by the enemy. When everything around him scream and echoed, “Defeat, Defeat” General Washington never thought of defeat and his victory of Valley Forge confirmed that America would become the greatest nation the world has ever known.
While the Church (Jesus Christ), was being mocked, slapped, spit upon, laugh at and the hair on His face pulled out a crown of thrones pressed into His head, the thought of defeat was never an option. Tied to a whipping post like a wild animal, beaten with a Cat-of Nine-Tails, His blood spewing from His body splattering across the courtyard as the screams of the crowd, echoed across the country side from mountain top to mountain top, valley though valleys. “Give us Barabbas” “Crucify Him, Crucify Him”
Little did they know that this was the beginning of the labor pains that would soon birth the Church of the Living God. Bleeding, His body ripped and torn, anguished with pain no human on earth could withstand. Stooped and stumbling from the weight of His own cross. Each step bringing Him closer to the finish. In man’s mind and Satan’s they thought His life, purpose and ministry would be finished for they heard Him say, “It is finished” but they couldn’t hear the emphatic thunderous roaring voice of His heart echoing off the walls Heaven and of Hell, “IT’S NOT OVER” They didn’t know that death couldn’t kill Him, the grave couldn’t hold Him and in the mist of everything pointing to death and the voices of Hell screaming, Defeated, Defeated, the most powerful organism ever to touch the planet earth would be birthed and He called it, “MY CHURCH”
They hung Him high and stretched Him wide they bled Him clean and pierced side His hands and feet and with His last breathe He said “It is Finished” but His heart said, “It’s Not Over.” The veil that had stood between God and His creation was rent from top to bottom. Man could now enter into the presence of the Holy’s of Holy’s, into the presence of God Almighty. He left the presence of man but He had already told them, in three days I’ll return. And for three days fear griped the minds of every demon in Hell. Those that sought Him where they had left Him could not find Him. He proved to the world, Satan and all his imps, that death could not kill Him the grave could not hold Him. Resurrected and empowered by God the Father, He stepped out of darkness into the world that He created and loved and declared, “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore,”…….. All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth…. And have the keys of Hell and Death.
As the world looks upon me, hear and know My voice, “I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE.” He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. (John 6:35) I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. (Rev 21:6)
“I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD” he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. “I AM THE RESURRECTION AND LIFE” he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. I declare to you that “I AM” the King of kings and the Lord of lords. “I AM” the alfa and the omega, the first and the last the beginning and the end. “I AM” the Great Shepherd, that will feed you from the table in the presence of thine enemy, I will supply all your needs…”I AM” the guide that leadeth you besides the still waters…”I AM” the rest in green pastures…”I AM” the restorer of your soul, I AM” the ROCK that gives you drink in dry places. And “I AM” that ROCK that I will build “MY CHURCH” upon and the Gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matt 28:18-20).
Let your imaginations join with mine as silence falls over Hell. I can hear voices quietly whisper as conversations begin to spread across the satanic kingdom. Death, you stung Him and killed Him. We all heard Him say, “It is Finished” we all rejoiced and shouted as we all watched as they put Him in a tomb and even sealed it. They put guards around it so no one could steal His body. And death responds, “I don’t know what happen, my sting has always be sufficient but then there was that man named Lazarus but I’ll get another shot at Him. Grave how did you lose your grip and let Him escape? Grave responded, I thought I had Him for sure but He only was passing through. We all thought it was finished, we didn’t know it wasn’t over. We must have a board meeting and device a plan to counter-act and stop what He is about to do. We must stop Him from building that “My Church” or He will destroy all the works we have done and destroy even king Satan himself.
Satan suggests, let’s make people doubt His Word. It worked with His first son and his wife. But wait a minute. I remember when I took Him high upon a mountain and tried to make Him doubt who He was. I told Him, “If you are the Son of the Living God and I tempted Him with power, riches and glory and each time He looked me square in the eye and said, “Satan it is written”. So the first thing we’ll do is to make them believe that Bible Study and Sunday School and learning His Word is not important, then we can change “What is Written” and they’ll believe and accept whatever makes them feel good. Soon they’ll compromise and as we make things bad, they’ll seek help in the things that we offer them. We will convince them that God is not a god of love and He won’t send anyone to help them. But there will be those that know better because their daddy and mother took them to that “My Church” and taught them His true Word. So for them and all the world, more than anything else we must make them think they have plenty of time.
I am finished with the message this morning, but “It’s Not Over”
Some opinions that suicide will not cause a person to go to hell, though well thought out and with much love and sensitivity and with regard for others, raises somewhat a fear in my mind. My fear is not for myself but of those that are looking for relief and thinking suicide is the answer. I fear that letting people believe that if they take their own life they will be in a better place only encourages suicide. Perhaps if they were to believe that they would end up in a far worse condition and place, maybe they would look or seek a different solution and save a life and save the ones left behind the agonies of the lose of a loved one. I would never encourage anyone to take their own life for any reason. To encourage or to discourage is not a simple decision to make, but I'd rather scare someone out of hell than let someone think they won't go there if they take their own life. No one will ever come back and tell us which is right, all else is merely speculation. My opinion is written with deepest of Love and compassion that I can possibly mustard from this infinite mind.
(St. John 10:10) .......Have Life and have it more abundantly. (Ezekiel 3:17-21) Warn the unrighteous as well as the righteous.
Pastor Dale Carter Sr.
Harvest Fellowship Community Church
I honestly believe that I have the second greatest job in the world. There is nothing else I could imagine myself doing. I love being a pastor, the shepherd of a small flock in Lonoke, Arkansas. Eight plus years ago I stumbled and fell into this small pasture. We have done well, grown in number and property. But if we grow to where the Compaq Center in Houston Texas could not hold the congregation I’d still would not be qualified nor could I ever qualified to have the opportunity to hold the greatest job in the world. It can’t ever happen; because God did not create me nor equipped me or any other man to occupy that position. I know that what I’m about to say has become very unpopular and is very politically incorrect in today’s world. But we are not of this world and God’s Word and Church is not political. It is a never changing Rock. The greatest, most important job in the whole entire world is reserved for a woman and a woman only. It even carries two titles, Wife and Mother.
Being a wife and mother is more important than being the president of the United States, more important than being a King over many nations. It is the power of a praying mother that has protected the life of sons and daughters on the battle fields around the world. There is nothing more comforting to a child in harm’s way than to know that Mama is praying for them and when Mama prays, Heaven listens. There is no place that can disperse fear and anxiety and bring peace and serenity like Mama’s lap. There has never been anything more powerful, more instrumental or influential in producing the values in the men that have lead and shaped this nation. Men like Abe Lincoln who was quoted in saying, “I remember my Mother’s prayers and they have always followed me, influenced me and shaped me into the man that I am.”
First and foremost, God’s plan for the newly created human race, was to show a clear and unmistakable distinct differences in creation so male and female created He them and He called their name Adam. In this statement God created the most powerful and influential institution of all, called Marriage. For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh. Though He called their name Adam, meaning they were to function as one, they were two separate individuals and had very much different roles to play in life.
Adam called his wife’s name Eve because she was the mother of all living. Another institution was just birthed. Its name is called Motherhood. The institution was in Adam but only a woman would be qualified to serve. No man has ever served nor will any man ever serve in this most powerful position.
Giving consideration to the role of a man: God established Adam to rule over his wife not as a king or master but as a shepherd to lead her, nourish and feed her protect her and tread her as his own flesh. But when Eve listened to the voice of the serpent, the voice of her shepherd was not heard so she was led astray by a strange voice.
As time speeds onward and the further becomes the present and the present gives way to the past many situation have occurred and many men have failed to fulfill the role that God created them to do. So a precious, God loving woman seeing the need steps up and tries to fill the role of the man. As it is impossible for a man to fulfill the role of a woman, it is also impossible for a woman to fill the role of a man. Why? Because situations, events and circumstances will not change the Word of God. Established before the foundation of the world His word will never pass away. If a situation changed the Word then we could not depend on it. But standing on His Word and raising the standard will change any situation and we will be able to wave the banner of victory high above the battles of this life on earth.
Ladies, precious Ladies please do not be enticed or lead astray by an ever growing delusion of a charismatic, political correct movement that is now infiltrating the Church. Don’t destroy what God has created you to be by trying to be what God has not ordained.
The year was 1820 and Peter Richley was a grateful man. He had survived one of the strangest and most harrowing events known to mankind. The ship which he had been traveling on sank. He was rescued. By some strange twist of circumstance, however, this ship sank.
He was rescued again. But, this third ship sank likewise. He was rescued for a third time. Yet, his fourth ship of passage soon sank. And unbelievably, he was rescued for a fourth time, but this fifth ship sank as well.
It would have been laughable had it not been so serious. On the high seas, however, he floated with the serene confidence that somehow God did not want him to die. And sure enough, as if on cue, another ship came by and answered his call for help.
This ocean liner, The City of Leeds, was named after it’s British city of orgin. It was bound from England to Australia and traveled the same sea lane as Peter Richley’s downed ships. The crew of The City of Leeds hoisted Peter aboard. Dry clothing was provided to Peter. The ship’s doctor gave him a cursory exam, pronounced him fit, and then asked an unusual favor.
“There’s a lady on board who booked passage to Australia,” the doctor explained. “She’s looking for her son who disappeared years ago. She’s dying and she’s asking to see her son. She knows everybody on board and since you’re the only newcomer, would you pretend to be her son?”
Peter agreed. After all, his life had now been saved for the fifth time. He followed the doctor below deck and entered into a cabin. There on a small bed lay a frail woman with silvered-hair. She was obviously suffering from a very high fever. Deliriously, she was crying out. “Please God. Let me see my son before I die. I must see my son!”
The ship’s doctor gently pushed the young man toward the bed. Soon, however, Peter Richley began sobbing. For lying there on that bed was the reason that he couldn’t seem to die. Here was the lifeline that had kept him from drowning five times. For lying on that bed was none other than Sarah Richley—who had prayed for ten years to reconciled to her son, Peter.
The ship’s doctor stood in amazement as the young man fell down by the bed and embraced the sick woman. “I’m here mom! I’m here. It’s me!” Within days the fever had subsided and his mother awakened to find an answered prayer seated on the edge of her bed.
(This story was told by western writer Louis L’Amour in an interview he gave. This story bears out the saying, “truth is stranger than fiction.” In researching the Louis L’Amour website there were additional references that bear out this story to be a true story.)
Never, never, never underestimate the power of the prayers of a praying mother.
Drama as defined by Webster’s Dictionary as a literary composition to be performed by actors. A play that is not a comedy, in other words, it’s pretty serious and can also be defined as “exaggerated emotionalism”. After over thirty years of pastoring I have analyzed in my own mind, the components of Drama. I broke it down into categories and its causes. #1. Every play or movie has a foundation. In other words, what is the reason for the play? There is a message that the producer wants to express, show to an audience and hope the audience enjoys it. All of the parts of the play may not be exactly the truth so the actors dramatize the parts so people will listen longer and more intensely. The value of the play is determine by the ability of the actor to dramatize. These people are called dramatist, kind a like a playwright in Hollywood. In the case of Drama, the playwright, the dramatist, the actor and the star of the show is the self-same person. Because the number one reason or foundation of this Drama is “Self”.
Most plays are broken down in parts or acts. The first act lays the ground work and plants the seeds. These seeds must be cared for daily. The ground in which they are planted needs to be watched to make sure that only the seeds that produce the desired fruit will be cared for. Every seed that does not create agreement with the playwright and dramatist will be plucked up and the sower will be doused with poisonous venom in an attempt to destroy their credibility and may even be cast as an enemy. Only those that agree with the playwright and dramatist will have a part in this Drama. #2. reason for the play is “Self”.
Conclusively, the seeds must be watered. The water for these plants that have begun to grow is an audience followers, disciples. The larger the audience there more water it takes and there must be a little fertilizer added to attract more attention. So now the playwright and dramatist must do something to entice the audience so they create something dramatic. In most plays or a true story movie, this is where the real truth is comprised and "fake news" is added. What if the whole truth and nothing but the truth was told…well someone might think that some of this drama was invented and I would shudder to think that maybe the truth would expose the playwright's real motive may be exposed. Someone may even think that the real reason for this Drama is “Self”
Over a person’s life time some can be infected by a terminal disease called "Self”. One symptom of this disease is an inflated ego another is pride which together create "attitude." The disease starts in the mind and then flows to the heart saturating it fully. We can know that the heart has been saturated because all that flows from the mouth is Drama filled with venom, venom trying to steal, kill and destroy which is the root purpose of "Drama." No regard for the welfare of others. Most don’t realize that the one that is harmed the most is the one that is spewing the venom. The playwright may leave one church and go to another or even stop going to church entirely but there will always be another play to write and a drama to create. Why? Because Self is so big the mirror of self-image cannot reflect the truth.
There is a antidote or a cure for this evil life style. The Bible says that it is appointed unto every man once to die but then the judgement. The apostle Paul said, I die daily. If the diseased person will die daily in the way that Paul means the disease which is actually a stronghold, can be cured.
"Father, thank you that You created me to soar and to do great things. You're given me talent, ability, and skill. I believe that as I prepare and take responsibility with my growth, You will honor my efforts and take me further than I can ever imagine."
God created the eagle to soar above all other fowls; this is the heart of the eagle, not just “IN” his heart but “IS” his heart. While soaring above heights not obtainable by others, the eagle is surrounded by the presence of God. Sometimes the eagle may injure his wing and possible descend to his nest or even plunge into a valley. Whether in the nest or in the valley the eagle is surrounded by the presence of God. During the pain of the injury unable to soar the process of being healed was taking place and full restoration was just over the horizon. As the healing process progress, the eagle has his eyes on the sky. But even during the down time the eagle’s heart was soaring above the clouds because God created the eagle to soar…
God has commanded us to mount up with wings as eagles as well. If you are reading this article, read the following prayer out loud. again “Father, thank You that you have created me to soar and do great things. You’ve given me talent, ability, and skills. I believe that as I prepare and take responsibility with my growth, You will honor my efforts and take me further than I can ever imagine.” (author unknown)
Come soar with us and let God lift you into a new dimension, anoint you with fresh oil, fill you with wind of the Holy Ghost. Transform you from the old to the new by the renewing of your mind. Then you will know that you were created on purpose and for a purpose.
As we continue teaching the importance of training, preparedness, power, authority and victory, I scenes a diffident awareness of a strong presence of God. The lingering savor of a divine atmosphere that is gaining and spreading its odor, whispering to hearts as it flows as a still small voice filled with the power of a mighty rushing wind cleansing and purifying as a consuming fire. A presence that is drawing Gods’ children and guiding them into His Kingdom. Minding the broken hearted, giving sight to the blind and setting those free from the bondage of sin. As we thirst and hunger to know Him in a fullness unexplainable by man, we will send up an odour of a sweet smell into the nostrils of God and the presence of His Diving Presence will increase.
All of these together will built an infrastructure that will hold, hold during the times of storms and hard times. Look at it this way. One part of the infrastructure is connected to another part which in turn will strengthen the other part that the other part could not stand by itself. So each individual part of the infrastructure when it is connected to another part will bring strength sufficient to hold the structure together so that the purpose of the structure will be accomplished. Every business and origination and most especially the local church must have a strong infrastructure or it will deteriorate right before our very eyes.
Building a strong infrastructure is the number one priority of a great leader. There are many greater leaders in the military that have stripes on their sleeves instead of stars on their shoulders but like T.D. Jakes once said, "I'd better be a great sergeant that a poor general." Me too!
If only God's people will bind together and pull together and seek God with prayer and supplication then the presence of God will become more and more present.
