Raise Your Self-Image

by Pastor Dale Carter on 08/15/16

"Raise Your Self-Image
Image. What is image? One of several definitions found in the Merriam-Webster's Dictionary ascribes image as "a person strikingly like another person" So could it be that when a person that is worked up, mad, and is out for vengeances, dramatically, with much emotions brings you into their game. That's an evil ungodly game on the part of the person spewing venom. Next step is the person listening believes the scenario. Then the worst step of all is that the person to which the drama is being unfolded forms the same conclusion and passes judgement and seeks vengeances themselves. What happens? The person listening forms the same image as the accuser.
How do you raise your "Self Image?" Inform that person, with love and compassion that you will help them pray about this situation and invite them to consult a higher power. Assure them that you will go with them to that higher source, such as the pastor. In doing this, you will raise your self-image, adding to the value of yourself. Not only what value you put on yourself will improve but the image that your friends and family will be raised.
If you are led by the other person then you assume their image. God made us in His image, wouldn't it be much more beneficial to everyone concerned if we reflected His image.
If the person will not seek help and guidance then rest assuredly that that person only wants to cause division.
Just my thoughts this early Monday Morning.

The Fat and Death of Arsenic

by Pastor Dale Carter on 08/12/16

Is There Arsenic In The Church?

One of the largest chicken producers in the world told me that there is arsenic in chicken feed. A person would think that arsenic being a highly toxic poison would kill the chicken. The individual said that the right amount of arsenic enhanced the growth of the chicken. It, along with other ingredients, cause the chicken to produce meat. In past times a four pound chicken was considered an ideal size to be marketed but now it takes an eight pounder. The arsenic speeds up the growth process, producing a bird twice the size in a lot less time. Problem is, the quick production of the bird’s meat is so fast that the bones do not strengthen at the same rate and therefore the weak bone cannot hold the added weight so it breaks, namely the legs. There are a lot of broken chicken legs in super-markets today and they are not caused by the slaughter house as I once thought.

I wonder, if the chicken is not harvested and the feed is continued will the bird die of its feed. I’m almost sure that arsenic leaves a residue and as the feed is continued the arsenic level grows and eventually will kill the chicken. The chicken loves what it is being fed. If you go to a broiler chicken house you will find that the feed trough is never empty so the chicken can enjoy eating all it can consume not realizing that what is so good today will kill it tomorrow.

Referring to the question, “Is there arsenic in the church”, my observational opinion is a diffident and solid “YES” I said, observational opinion because of the trends and life styles “church people” have developed.

Some say, “I was saved when I was a kid, so I can sin all I want to and have no fear of going to hell.” Some think that they can abuse and defile their bodies with nicotine, drugs, booze, perverted sex and they will be accepted into Heaven. To some, church attendance is only a side line and really there is no real need of it. Many say, they pray and read their Bible every day, which a vast majority of them are lying, and that’s all they need to do to acquire Heaven’s Gates. I have a sign on the back glass of my truck which reads, “If you don’t want to go to church, why do you want to go to Heaven.” It gets a lot of attention, it has become the identifying symbol of my truck.

People have been fed and have believed all the lies written above and much more. They have become fat on the lies of un-holiness, unrighteousness, un-commitment, without sanctification and purity, feeding on ungodliness and even feeling good about themselves. As the foundation and structural makeup of the bones of an arsenic fed fat chicken will not hold up the chicken neither will the compromising life style of many people hold up in the eyes of the Lord when they stand before Him. The Word of God is the foundation of the “Church” and it is the same for all and it will never change.

The Chicken, The Gnat, The Camel:

by Pastor Dale Carter on 08/10/16

Chickens...When it comes to eating chicken someone said one time, "I like the back and the breast and all the rest."  Well I agree with them.  There's nutten better that good O fried chicken, brown and crispy on the outside and running with heart killing grease from the inside.  Put that with creamy smooth smashed potatoes with some well documented turnip greens dashed with some fine pepper sauce with a slice of butter dripping corn bread and that is money for your cardiologist.   Broiled Chicken is good but it won't kill you as fast and it won't make your doctor as much money.  So have a heart and help your doc send his kids to Harvard so they can become lawyers.  Wow!  Look at the influence a little old chicken has.  Love them.

In Matt. 23:37 and Luke 13:34, Jesus speaks of a hen that would gather her chickens and cover them with her wings.  Under her wings they are safe.  The hen was doing what she was created to do, protect, train and preserve so that the little chicks would grow up and continue doing what they were created to do. Sometimes the hen will get her feathers ruffled. Usually when another chicken irritates her. Her feathers stand up and she is ready to fight. Most of the time the irritation subsides and all is well in the chicken pen, but in the church it may be a different story. Ruffled feathers are useless.  They stand up on edge away from the body of the hen and cannot protect the hen much less the little chicks.  If the ruffled feather continues to be ruffled and remains standing on edge, it is weakened and the wind can separate it from the body.  This leaves a weakness in the covering of the body so the wind begins to affect the other feathers which are blown away from the body which can expose the body to other elements which can bring sickness and disease.

Gnats: The gnat is a very small insect that resembles a mosquito.  Some think it as a baby fly, but it is not. They usually gather in swarms and can be very irritating, causing some to strain or half close their eyes to keep gnats out of them.  When being encountered by a swarm of gnats, never open your mouth. Though easy to swallow they probably aren't very nutritional and as proverbs declares, it's easier for some folks to swallow a camel. While straining at gnats our vision is hampered and we cannot see clear enough to see the charging camels. Specking of which:

Camels:  My research produced some interesting facts about camels. Camel meat is high in protein, but with less than half the fat of beef, camel meat is often held up as a healthy alternative.  But hardly anyone eats it. Globally, it accounts for 0.13 per cent - barely one thousandth - of the meat eaten every year.  As a result of that lack of prominence on the world's dinner tables, there has been little scientific study of the meat's properties.

Now a scientist in Oman is hoping to rectify this. Prof Isam Kadim, of the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, edited a volume published last year entitled Camel Meat and Meat Products.

When Satan heard of this, he had a more promising idea.  He said I have a much more flourishing place to feed camel than anywhere else.  I'll feed it to the Church, and in the last days it will become the most desired meat of all the church members, even to the point of replacing chicken, which was the number one food for preachers.  And so it has become.  We have fried and devoured the chicken, with half open eyes strained at gnats and swallowed camels.

Maybe it's time that the church went back to being like hens as Jesus described.  Even if we get our feathers ruffled by some wind, all we have to do is turn around. Ruffled feathers have caused a lot of denominations to spring up or new church buildings to be erected. Hundreds of chicks have been blown away or drowned while searching for love, peace and security because someone with ruffled feathers took control of the spirit of the church and with blind eyes caused the congregation to swallow many a camel which was good for the flesh, but God's Church is not of the flesh, but of the Spirit.

Seem any camels lately? Maybe the appetite of the church has devoured them. Let the wind of the Holy Ghost lay the feathers down. Spray the gnats with the anointing of the Holy Ghost so that the eyes of your understanding will be opened before you are ran over by camels.

Setting the Record Straight

by Pastor Dale Carter on 01/29/16

A good friend told me that he saw on face book that I supported the Book of Mormons. Let me assure everyone "I DO NOT SUPPORT ANY RELIGION THAT DOES NOT TEACH THAT THE SHED BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST IS ALL IT TAKES AND IS THE ONLY WAY OF SALVATION AND THAT JESUS IS THE ONLY DOOR TO HEAVEN. NO ONE HAS COME AFTER JESUS TO FINISH WHAT JESUS DID NOT FINISH.  HE PAID THE FULL AND COMPLETE PRICE FOR OUR SALVATION.  MAN HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, AND WILL NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT.  JESUS PAID IT ALL."

Fly with Lifers and Thrusters (Joel Osteen)

by Pastor Dale Carter on 12/24/15

A pilot friend of mine told me there are four main principles to master when flying airplanes: life, thrust, weight, and drag. You have to take all these into account to make sure the plane will fly.

These same principles apply to specific types of people. There are the Lifters who brighten your day, cheer you up, and make you feel better about yourself. then there are the Thrusters who inspire you, motivate you, challenge you to move forward and pursue your dreams. The people in the third group are weights. They pull you down, dump their problems on you so the you leave feeling heavier, negative, and discouraged. Finally, there are those who are a drag. They've always got a sad song. They're stuck in a pit. They expect you to cheer them up, fix their problems, and carry their loads.

We all encounter people from each of these four groups. You have to make sure you're spending the majority of your time with Lifters and Thrusters. If you're only hanging out with weights and drags, it will keep you from becoming everything you were created to be.

Some people have perpetual problems. If you allow them, they'll use you as a trash can to dump all their garbage in. You spend an hour with them and you feel like you've run a marathon. They're energy suckers. You leave them feeling drained and worn out.

You cannot continue to deal with them day after day if you expect to reach your highest potential. You won't Lift off. You won't Thrust forward into the good things God has in store if you're weighted down, letting people dump their loads on you.

You are not responsible for their happiness. Sure, there are times when we need to sow a seed and have a listening ear and take time to love people back into wholeness. But that should be for a season and not an ongoing drama. You can't allow someone to put negativity in you day after day if you expect to soar.

My thoughts....A husband should be their wife's Lifer and Thruster and a wife should be the husbands Lifter and Thruster. As a pastor I've always tried to teach that everyone needs a cheer leader and that cheer leader should be the husband and wife. Good cheer leaders can cheer a team out of a slump and inspire them to win the game. So it is with individuals such and me and you. Be your spouse's best cheer leader and inspire others to do the same it will change your whole life and especially your home life. If you have a problem that you really want to leave behind, go talk to your pastor that's why God put him or her there.

Why Go to Church?

by Pastor Dale Carter on 12/07/15

A church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."
Someone read his complaint and responded with the following: "I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals, but I do know this...they all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Like wise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!"
When you are DOWN to nothing...God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical and our spiritual nourishment.

Seek Him or Just Brood

by Pastor Dale Carter on 11/21/15

I am battered with thought of a precious family that I once pastored and were very close to my heart. I had dreams about the ministry that I knew God had for them. But sometimes dreams don't come to pass at the time we want but if the dream is from God it will happen in God timing. Sometimes some folks are just hard headed and it takes a little longer to open their eyes.

Unfortunately, it generally takes devastation on a business level to make most men commit more of their interest in relationships. Job probably could have reached out to his children for comfort, but he had lost them too. Sometimes we can loose our kids and grandkids while they live just across the block or across town. Job's marriage had deteriorated to the degree that Job said his wife abhorred his breath. Then he also became ill. Have you ever gone through a time in your life when you felt you had been jinxed? Everything that could go wrong, did! Frustration turns into alienation, So now what? Will you use this occasion to seek the face of God or will you brood over this misfortune or try to handle it all by yourself? You may say, "I know, I'll go back to smoking and drinking, after all, smoking used to relax me and a couple of beers made me sleep better." Brooding can become a dangerous position to allow yourself to fall into and can place you into captivity once again. Remember, misery loves company and satan will lead you to a place you can find company and that company can usher you right back to bondage or even back into a jail cell.. But with the right answer you can turn the jail into a church. Remember how good it used to be when church was your favorite place to go and perhaps the pastor was your best friend?

Job said, "Behold, I go forward, but He is not there." Are you in that position now? It is terrifying when you see no change coming in the future. Comfort comes when you know that the presents adversity will soon be over. But what comfort can be found when it seems the problem will never cease and only gets more and more pressing like a heavy weight that keep getting heavier and heavier? Think back a remember how good it felt the last time you were at church among people that loved you. Remember when the Spirit of God came upon you and it seemed as though that there never had ever been a problem. It was like a different dimension of life, a different atmosphere, a different world. But before the time came to go back to church, there you were brooding, sadness and dismay and  back into captivity you go again. Your mind being gripped by some force that you cannot conquer.

Job said, "I see no help, no sign of God , in the future." It actually is satan's trick to make you think help is not coming. That hopelessness then produces anxiety. On the other hand, sometimes the feeling that you eventually will come to a point of transition can give you to tenacity to persevere the current challenge. But there often seems to be no slacking in distress. Like a rain-storm that will not cease, the waters of discouragements begin to fill the tossing ship with water. Suddenly you experience a sinking feeling as the strome waters flood your mind. Water outside the ship will never sink the ship until the water is allowed to come inside.  Stop the water from coming inside. Keep it out of your spirit. How?  2 Chron 7:14-15 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

We here at Harvest Fellowship want to help. We have a prayer meeting at 6PM on Monday night but now it appears that that meeting has turned into a prayer and support meeting. You are welcome to come a let us share the love of God with you. Help is guaranteed it you just try. Don't wait till your ship sinks. Renew your relationship with family and God now! The choice is your, Seek or Brood. Please choose "Seek".

The Trinity Decision and Beyond

by Pastor Dale Carter on 11/14/15

Found this article in a book written by Jerry Newcombe. In 1892, the U.S, Supreme Court delivered the Trinity decision, wherein they declared "this is a Christian nation." They came to this conclusion after poring through all the documentary evidence. They studied all the charters, covenants, and early documents of America through the founding era and even beyond. The Supreme Court stated: "This is a religious people, This is historically true. From the discovery of this continent to the present hour, there is a single voice making this affirmation...these are not individual sayings, declarations of private persons: they are organic utterances; they speak the voice of the entire people ... these and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation." Again in 1931 the U.S. Supreme Court, made up of entirely different persons noted that the United States is a Christian nation. In a mid-Atlantic summit with British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in the darkest hours of World War II, President Roosevelt who had described the United States as "the lasting concord between men and nations, founded on the principles of Christianity" asked the crew of an American Warship to join him in a rousing chorus of the hymn "Onward Christian Soldiers."

In 1947, writing to Pope Pius Xll. President Truman said flatly, "This is a Christian nation." Nobody argued with any of them.

I believe that groups like the ACLU that continually sue to remove any vestige of Christianity in public places, are trying to remake America in the image of the failed Soviet Union, with its godless foundation. The founders did not intend a national denomination. But that's far different from what today's secularist are trying to impose with their myriad lawsuits.....essentially, state-sanctioned atheism. (Thank You Mr. Newcombe)

There is no greater time in our history that the need for Bible believing churches to bind together and pull together to defeat the satanic spirit that is over taking our nation, schools, homes and yes so called churches, has been greater.

Help is on the Way.

by Pastor Dale Carter on 08/10/15

For a long time we heard the saying, "The check is in the mail", so we wait and we wait, but somehow it hasn't reached its destination.  Could be that the check was never mailed.  The message for last Sunday was, "Help is on the way" and I am sure that there were some in the congregation maybe wandering, when will it get here or is it really on the way?  Let me assure those with longing hearts that God has heard your cry and He has sent help and it will arrive on time.  The "on time" may not be what we have our clock set to, but it will arrive at the time that God has appointed and the help will be more than enough.

In 1 Samuel 11, we read of  Nahash the Ammorite, who captured all the men of Jabesh, and they surrendered and offered to make a covenant with Nahash.  The articles of the covenant were more than what the elders of Jabesh could accept.  Nahash wanted the right eye of every man of Jabesh thrust out and put on display for a reproach upon all Israel.  The elders asked Nahash for a seven day delay so they could search for a man to help them, and so it was.

When news of this came to Saul, he became angry and gathered a 300 thousand man army and came to their rescue and slew the Ammonites so that two of them were not left together.  There is a rabbit to chase in this statement, but I'll resist the temptation.  The point is that God sent help not to just rescue the men from captivity, but He destroyed the captor.

Sometimes, as in the case of  Lazarus and his sisters, Martha told Jesus if He would have came earlier Lazarus would not have died,  then Mary responded in like manner. There was a purpose in the arrival time.  Jesus wanted to show Himself  to be God, for only God has the power to raise the dead.  So Jesus freed Lazarus from the captivity of death and He would later destroy death itself, but at the appointed time.

It doesn't matter what holds you in captivity, help is on the way.  The help will deliver you and break the chains that hold you and destroy the holder of the chains.

Satan hates the Word of God because it has power that he cannot overcome.  So when you feel the pressure and agony of the chains of captivity, just pick up your Bible, open it to any page and begin to read it out loud to Satan.  It brings back memories that still today ring in his ears of the day that Jesus said, "Satan, it is written."  Try it.  It worked for me and is still working.

Communicate, and Fellowship Create Relationships

by Pastor Dale Carter on 08/01/15

“Communication Builds Relationship. Relationship Creates and Generates Fellowship. Fellowship Enhances Communication Therefore Builds Strong and Everlasting Relationships.”

At a time when our government is breaking apart and our leaders are being lead from the once proven path of unity as “One Nation Under God”, we are facing division as never before in our history. Marriage, which is the standard of unification and holiness of home, church and nation, has become a mere word, with a vast majority of Americans viewing this underlying basic foundation of God’s plan for mankind as a hindrance, to say the least, and to an ever increasing number, plain bondage. In the past Satan has crept into our government as a lion, quietly and without attention, stalking his prey, and is now lunging with a roar that is bringing fear to the hearts of the un-suspecting.  As Satan and his ministers and servants have infected our nation with his venom of passiveness, laziness, “just don’t care” with an agenda of self-satisfaction attitude, we are quickly becoming a Godless, weak, mocked, and laughed at nation.

Tempting and promising a better, more fun, more pleasurable and wealthier life style as he did Jesus, Satan has bitten the “Church” and has injected his infectious venom into its veins destroying the strength of its hands and feet. And as I write this letter, the infection has entered the main arteries and is spreading and racing toward the very heart of Christianity. No amount of antibiotics, fun programs, pizza, worldly education, reasoning or compliancy will cure this infection. But, Jesus defeated Satan with the Word of God. Satan knew he did not have the power to defeat and over-come the Word of God so he began to hide the Word from the “Church”, small portions at a time, calling it “easier to read and understand.” Compare Matthew 18:11, in the KJV, to the same scripture in the NIV. The solution to the problem in America today is the same as it was in the days of Jerimiah in Israel.

So what is the solution? Well, some may laugh at me, and for sure more than likely do, but the little song that we sing at Harvest Fellowship at the beginning of each service and at sectional fellowship meetings, “Let Us All Pull Together” and “Bind Us Together With Cords of Love That Cannot Be Broken”, are strong and powerful words that need to be planted in our hearts and then practiced at every opportunity. And then as God said in, 2 Chron 7:14. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” KJV

It’s far past the time to pull and bind together as God would have us to do. Communicating, fellowshipping will build a strong relationship in the home, and church and between us and Jesus Christ. It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, well how many words would a hug be worth? Invaluable!!!  Pastors look your people in the eye, give them a big hug and tell them how much you love them.
